Forgive me, Father, for I’m about to sin…
“Annabelle: Creation” was just the movie I needed, especially after watching a series of senseless and stupid horror flicks. It was a wonderful comeback to the previous part, Annabelle (2014) and I cannot wait to brag about the experience. So, here we go…
Quick Facts: Starring Talitha Bateman as Janice, Lulu Wilson as Linda and Stephanie Sigman as Sister Charlotte, the movie is a prequel to 2014’s Annabelle and is fourth movie installment in The Conjuring Series. The movie is rated 6.8/10 on IMDb and 68% on Rotten Tomatoes.
My Rating: 4 out of 5
My Theory: Finally, “The Conjuring” series made a comeback after delivering two consecutive flops (for me at least, since “The Conjuring 2” received quite good reviews, and I have no idea why). Annabelle: Creation is an excellent mix of intrigue and horror. It delivers the right amount of chills at the right time with a solid story backing it up at all times.
To be true, I am little fed up of horror movies starting with people entering a new house and coming across paranormal activities there. This one though, had a ring to it that caught my interest from the beginning. Not only do you connect with the main characters but Annabelle, the doll, drives you into actually believing that objects like it can be possessed.
The greatest advantage Annabelle: Creation has is the fact that the doll becomes scarier than it was in the former movie mainly because of the wise scenarios created around it this time. While in the first movie, there was nothing much the doll could do except just appear lifeless, in Annabelle: Creation, the doll gets to appear only when necessary and yet steals the limelight.
The actors, especially Talitha Bateman and Lulu Wilson totally live the parts that are given to them. They make Annabelle more lifelike and scarier than ever. The story moves at a good pace making sure to give apt twists and turns throughout.
I am absolutely content with Annabelle: Creation and certainly, after a series of bad experiences, I got something that could stay with me for a while.
If you have or haven’t watched Annabelle (2014), Annabelle: Creation is the next movie you need to put on your watchlist. Not only will it entertain you, it will also bring things into focus regarding Annabelle, the former movie.
The next movie in the series is hopefully “The Nun”, which will tell the story of Valak, the demon nun from The Conjuring 2. It’s due to release in 2018.
Until next time, this is Zee signing off –
